Home Equity Line of Credit (HELOCs)
Flexible Home Equity Lines of Credit (HELOCs) are offered at low adjustable interest rates and no application fee. With a HELOC, you can write checks...for any purpose...up to the amount of your approved credit line. You will be charged interest only on the amount of credit you use. Example: if you borrow $5,000 of a $20,000 Home Equity Line of Credit, interest will be charged only on the $5,000.
HELOCs have a 25-year term. Funds can be borrowed during the initial ten-year "draw period," during which interest (not principal) must be paid monthly. You may repay principal earlier, with no prepayment penalty. Any unpaid principal and interest must be paid over the final 15 years. Capitol and Capitol Plus accounts entitle members to preferred interest rates.
