Who Can Join Capitol Region Federal Credit Union? 



Membership Eligibility

Thousands of people are eligible to join Capitol Region FCU because they are employed by, retired from or affiliated with one of our 100-plus Employee Group Sponsors, listed below.  

Individuals may join if they are:
    a. Full- or part-time employees, members, volunteers or students of an Employee Group Sponsor 
   
 b. Pensioners or retirees from an Employee Group
    c.  Spouse, widow, child, step-child, parent, step-parent, grandparent, grandchild, sibling or other immediate family member or permanent household resident of a Capitol Region member; it's easy for Capitol Region membership to become a family affair! 

Encourage Your Employer to Request Membership: You are encouraged to suggest that your employer contact us: it's easy (and free)  to become a Group Sponsor (see "New Sponsors Welcome" below), thus providing eligibility to all employees who wish to join. Non-profits and other organizations are also encouraged to request sponsorship approval on behalf of their members, volunteers and employees. The application process is fast and simple, requiring no financial information or expense. 

Membership for Individuals. Employees, retirees, volunteers and members affiliated with our sponsors can join Capitol Region simply by opening a $5 minimum share/savings account; there are no membership dues or fees. After someone joins Capitol Region, his/her immediate family and permanent household residents also become eligible to join. Membership can last a lifetime. Members' deposits up to $250,000 are federally insured by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA), a U.S. Government agency.


New Employer Groups Welcome. We are pleased to establish relationships with new businesses, non-profits and other organizations of all sizes. There are no fees or dues to arrange and maintain relationships with us. Our Membership Request takes only 10 minutes to complete. Routine approval typically takes one day. Note: All employees of West Hartford Public Schools and all West Hartford Town employees are eligible to join and to enjoy the convenience of a full-service Capitol Region office and 24 x 7 ATM in West Hartford Town Hall.
 
B. Chambers of Commerce, including  Owners, Managers and Employees of 1,000+ Chamber Member Businesses and Organizations; and Staff of 7 area Chambers:
Chamber of commerce members and all of their employees, as well as chamber staffs of the Avon, Bloomfield, Canton, Farmington, Simsbury and Wethersfield chambers of commerce are all eligible to join.  These six chambers have combined membership of more than 1,000 businesses and organizations, all of whose owners, managers, members and both full- and part-time employees are eligible for membership at Capitol Region FCU.  The staff of the West Hartford Chamber is eligible to join Capitol Region, and sponsorship can easily be arranged for most businesses and organizations in  West Hartford.
